Grant Applications


Overview

The Foundation will seek to fund initiatives that support its overall mission of helping all students at B-CC High School achieve high academic standards, attracting to B-CC High School and retaining the highest quality faculty, supporting a school environment where every student matters, and strengthening the bond between B-CC High School and the community.

Funding Guidelines

These guidelines pertain to proposals submitted under any of the program areas. Grants provided by the Foundation are viewed as " investments" in the future of B-CC High School. The Foundation encourages innovative proposals and collaborative efforts across disciplines and between school administration, teachers, students, parents, and community. The funding of programs by the Foundation will strive to serve the diverse needs of the entire student population at B-CC High School.

Applications will be judged using the following guidelines:

  1. Proposals must be consistent with the Foundation's mission.
  2. Proposals must clearly demonstrate the need (programmatic and financial) for the request.
  3. Proposals must designate a point of contact or project manager who will be responsible for implementing the request and who will be accountable for appropriate use of grant funds.
  4. Proposals must include an evaluation component.

Special Projects

In an effort to encourage innovation and creative thinking, the Foundation will consider funding and developing special projects. Those considering special projects are advised to discuss preliminary ideas with one of the Foundation Board members.

Signature Projects

The Foundation may undertake funding, in whole or in part, on a year-to-year basis projects that are expected to continue for more than one year. If such a project is approved, then, to facilitate funding and administration, the Foundation may establish application procedures, proposal due dates, review dates, and notification dates which differ from those set forth under the general Grant Guidelines above. Examples of such projects for which the Foundation has provided funding and for which the Foundation has established modified procedures and dates include the Time for Academic Progress (TAP) program and the Ninth Grade Summer Academy.

Professional Development Grants

The Foundation may provide funding for Professional Development grants in consultation with the Principal. Applications for Professional Development grants should be submitted to:

Grant Guidelines

  1. The Board meets in November and May to award grants. Proposal due dates, review dates, and notification dates are as follows:
    • Due Date April 15:
      • Requests for funding for a summer program
      • Requests for funding for the fall semester
      • Requests for funding for a full academic year program
      • Proposals will be reviewed by May 15
      • Applicants will generally be notified by June 1
    • Due Date October 15:
      • Proposals for funding for the spring semester
      • Proposals will be reviewed by November 15
      • Applicants will generally be notified by December 1
  2. Grants are awarded for a period of one year or less.
  3. Letters of inquiry are encouraged prior to submission of a formal proposal. Inquiries are accepted throughout the year.

  4. In order to be considered for funding, all applicants must complete the appropriate application form and provide the following information:
    1. A description of the program or activity for which funding is requested, including relevant background, objectives, and implementation plan
    2. Current budget, if any, including all sources of support (both monetary and in-kind)
    3. Proposed budget for the requested funding
    4. Anticipated impacts
    5. Evaluation plan
  5. All proposals received are reviewed by the Foundation's Grant Review Committee, which presents funding recommendations to the Board of the Foundation. The Committee may request additional information at any time during the review process.
  6. If a grant is awarded:
    1. The recipient will be expected to provide regular reports to the Foundation on the progress of the activity and the expenditure of grant funds.
    2. The request for reimbursement of (general/professional development) expenses, with appropriate substantiation (including receipts), must be submitted by the following due dates:
      • Summer Program: August 15
      • Fall Semester: January 31
      • Spring Semester: June 15
  7. Failure to submit substantiation and receipts by the above due dates may result in denial of reimbursement.
  8. Additional reporting requirements may be included with the notice of grant award.
